Greater Toronto Airports Authority

For over ten years, Alectra Power Services, a subsidiary of Alectra Energy Solutions, has been on-call 24/7 for the busiest airport in Canada – a facility that in 2019, serviced over 50.5 million passengers. With over 1,800 hectares worth of runways, passenger terminals, and cargo areas – and an electricity load of 30 to 40 megawatts (MW) on peak days – the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is like a small city that never shuts down.

Our top priority is to ensure Toronto’s Pearson airport and its various facilities have a reliable source of electricity at all times – which means remotely monitoring Pearson’s 27.6 kV medium voltage system from Alectra Utilities’ control room to ensure a constant flow of electricity to the system’s four redundant feeders. It means being on-call at all hours, day and night, when needed. And most importantly, it means being a trusted business partner.

It helps that we know the GTAA’s medium voltage system inside and out. And that’s not just because we monitor and maintain it every day. It’s also because we were involved in the system’s original design and build.

We service the medium voltage needs of a critical part of Canada’s aviation infrastructure, indirectly servicing the millions of people who depend on it every day.
